The Darnell Collection
Fashion Exposed Now is pleased to present The Darnell Collection.
In 2004, Charlotte Smith inherited a vast collection of vintage and historic garments and accessories from her American Quaker godmother, Doris Darnell. Along with 3500 items of clothing came boxes of personal letters documenting the stories of the women who wore them. Charlotte quickly realised she had inherited more than a collection of fashion, but a collection recording social history through fashion.
The collection now includes 9000+ items of which some will be displayed at Fashion Exposed Now. The collection is recognised as one of ten significant private fashion collections in the world.
You can find The Darnell Collection on display next to the registration counter at Fashion Exposed Now.
