Each season, hundreds of hopefuls from across Australia and New Zealand vie for the chance to be among the 12 finalists selected for Debut, the fair’s competition for emerging apparel and accessories designers.
Since its launch in March 2006, Debut has rapidly gained in stature and the finalists’ collections – showcased in the preview exhibition area and on the runway – are a huge attraction for buyers and the media.
In March 2008 Best Apparel was won by Fine Cloth, Best Accessories; Jaime Beattie and Best Avant Garde; Selina Ding.
With prizes on offer including stands in the following seasons fair – an invaluable opportunity exists for emerging designers to be exposed to some 8,000 visitors. .
